The Architecture and Construction Archives at the University of Puerto Rico (AACUPR, for its initials in Spanish) began in 1986 as an educational supporting unit within the School of Architecture at the University of Puerto Rico’s Río Piedras campus. Over the years, it grew to become a research center specializing in the study of architecture and construction in Puerto Rico. Some of the highlights of its mission are the rescue, conservation, and outreach of Puerto Rico’s architectural values. The AACUPR holds architectural records from the XX Century onward which focus on the work of architects, engineers, contractors, photographers, landscape architects, and artists. In addition, among AACUPR’s holdings there are also, records from industries, institutions, and others of historical value associated with architecture and the building disciplines in Puerto Rico.

To date, the AACUPR takes care of over 110 collections. Electronic finding aids have been completed for many of them which may be consulted through the UPR’s on-line catalogue.

The AACUPR is located on the first floor at the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Architecture in Río Piedras.
